Lower Car Rental Refueling Costs

If you think refueling your rental car before your return it is expensive, try returning it without a full tank.  The car rental company's price per gallon can easily double a local gas station's price per gallon.  Plus you might incur a refueling surcharge.  That's a convenience charge for you not having to put the gas nozzle in the tank.

You have two options to lower your refueling costs when returning a rental car:

• Agree to the car rental company's fuel purchase option before leaving the rental lot
• Refuel the car at a local gas station that is no more than 10 miles from the rental car return location
